To Our Loyal Donors and Sponsors:

As you recall, the money raised from the golf tournament is being used to help local students go to college or to participate in after school activities.

Each high school has an application process to assist their students to obtain scholarships. We reviewed several from each school and selected 17 students

We chose 4 students from Brea High School, 2 from Brea Canyon High School, 4 from Fullerton High School, 4 from La Habra High School, 2 from Sonora High School and 1 from Valencia High School. We awarded up to $1000 for a 2 year college and up to $2500 for a 4 year college. Most checks were issued directly to the schools to cover the cost of tuition. Many of the students were past Boys & Girls Club members. All needed financial support to help them continue their education.

The students are attending Fullerton Community College, California State University at Fullerton, University of Riverside, Whittier College and University of California at Irvine.

To date we have paid out $27,285 to the students. We donated $500 to Newport Mesa Soccer Club to assist a young child to play soccer. From another small fundraiser that raised $2,150 and had no expenses we donated $1000 to Brea Pop Warner and $1000 to Yorba Linda Pop Warner to help offset the cost of kids who cannot afford the signup fee.

Our bank balance is $78,754 but this includes $50,716 from the 2009 golf tournament and approximately $28,000 remaining from the 2010 golf tournament. The 2009 proceeds were to be used for the Brea Boys and Girls Club building but so far the building is not operational. It would be our goal to help finish the building and have a voice in the monthly operation but that is still a work in process.

The $28,000 remaining from this year’s event will be used to cover a few live auction expenses remaining (hotels, airline tickets, etc) but the majority of this money will be used for students going to college and/or after school activities. We may assist the existing students with tuition and books for their 2nd semester of college.
